HISTORY

We have only researched this very quickly and this is what we have found.

The story behind it is that Hans Bartels who won the RK during the Norwegian campaign for his command of the minesweeper M1. The tiger's head and crossed swords being his emblem during his command of that ship. It was subsequently carried over to the units operating under him as commander of coastal security forces of the Norwegian West coast, like the 53 Vorposten flottille.

He also wrote a book were the tigerhead is seen on the cover. See last picture.
